Your Music Your World

Michael Jackson

Music is a way of expression and a powerful one at that. It has the power to influence the way we dance, dress, talk and even our culture. A music artist with great social influence could even create a song during a bad time that illustrates how he or she would like for things to be, or paint a picture of the ideal and the watch the spirits of each listener change for the better.

People can find themselves listening to a particular song and get carried away in the smooth breeze of hope. Music has an ability to touch the soul with an infectious and fantastic wave of pure dream potion that can be never forgotten and always accessed as an inspirational burst of adrenaline to finish any task.

“Music washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life.” ~Berthold Auerbach

You can even look at the style of clothing many people, especially teens are wearing today. Back to the skinny jeans and box fades, that was an 80’s look. But music helped to mold that mind-set back into 2010. Honestly, we can not afford to say, “But it’s only music.” That’s like saying “But its only a gun.” Words are powerful and when mixed with a melodic beat and groovy rhythm they can absolutely influence a entire cultures decisions.

How does music effect society? Greatly! From NWA and Ice Cube, who cause the Oakland Raiders apparel profits to increase because he sported the Oakland Raiders fitted baseball cap.  To Michael Jackson and the way he influenced all music around the world.

You learn a lot about people when you listen to the songs that mean something to them.  Listen to the Top Ten music of your country in 2010. Can you draw any conclusions? Be mindful what you listen to and the next time you’re feeling down find your favorite song and and go to your zone.

Catch Your Dreams With Your Goals

Dave Ramsey wrote:

“I’ve been setting goals since I was a kid—it wasn’t an option at our house. My parents would make me sit down and write out what I wanted to achieve in different areas of my life. Throughout the years, I’ve discovered that the people who win in life always have goals. I’ve met many millionaires, even billionaires, and I’ve seldom spoken with any who got to where they are without setting goals. Without goals, it’s hard to know what you’re aiming at.”

A wise man once asked me, “How do you expect to score with out a goal?”  I paused in amazement as my brain began to see life from the point of view of a sport.  We all fit in the same boat as far as having 24 hours in a day.  Yet why is it that we all don’t fit neatly into the category of success?

How many of you can honestly say you write down every single goal or have goals for every area of your life?  I was reading this article by Dave Ramsey about goals and I found some very interesting points.

Goals must…

Be Specific. How could you expect to arrive at a place and you don’t know where it is?

Be Measurable. Measuring your goals lets you know where you’ve been and how far you’ve got to go.

Be Yours. Don’t let anyone else dictate your goals and dreams.  Even if you work for someone else you can set your own objective.  When a goal comes from you, you become more determined to accomplish it.

Have a Time Limit. A goal is simply a vision backed by action with a date attached to it.  Don’t leave your dreams to be accomplished until someday.

Be in Writing. A goal when wrote down becomes powerful. A goal on paper is much more effective than just in your head.  Hold yourself accountable and don’t be afraid to of failing.  Nobody knows every exact move to make but the good news is that you can fail your way forward.

For more detail on goals you can read Dave’s article entitled Put Your Dreams To Work and Build Wealth.
